Organizational History

1988

Legislative Founding

Established under as one of Maine’s original Industry Outreach Centers under the Maine Science & Technology Commission (LD 2913). 

1991

Independent Nonprofit

Incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization, strengthening collaboration across industry, academia, and government.

2000s - 2010s

Industry Support

Expanded business incubation services, research partnerships, and infrastructure support made possible through competitive request-for-proposals process.

Today

Statewide Innovation Hub

MAIC manages facilities, supports applied research, develops educational programming, and advances sustainable aquaculture across Maine.
